These varietals are a mix of ancient genetic remnants from Venezuela, present in Puerto Rico and about ten (10) locally developed clones from the USDA Tropical Research Station in Mayaguez. The JM-03 strain can produce over a 100 pods per year of the finest tasting cacao, with the benefits of the disease resistance and three years to first harvest bred by the USDA agronomists.
